As a crucial part of this venture, Microsoft will aim to support economic growth by enhancing digital skills. The company plans to train over 1 million Italians in digital skills by 2025. The establishment of new infrastructure will solidify Northern Italy’s status as one of Microsoft’s largest data hubs in Europe, adhering to stringent data privacy laws.

An AI skills program will accompany the financial investment, promoting AI fluency and technical skills. This initiative, supported by partnerships with universities, nonprofits, and industry groups, will reach one million Italians by 2025. Sustainability remains a cornerstone of Microsoft’s investment. The Italian data centers will integrate renewable energy and efficient cooling systems to diminish their carbon footprint.
