Veon, through its Kyivstar subsidiary, has unveiled a new generative AI lab in collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS). The lab aims to support Ukrainian enterprises by integrating AI technologies into business operations, contributing to the country’s economic recovery.
The lab, leveraging AWS cloud solutions, will offer AI services such as text and visual content generation, and augmented intelligence-based tools such as chatbots and virtual assistants. These innovations are intended to enhance operational efficiencies for Ukrainian businesses and support their long-term growth.
Kyivstar is not only focusing on national growth but extending its services internationally. Kyivstar and Kyivstar Tech plan to offer cloud migration and analytics services to global markets.
This development follows a previous agreement in 2023 between Kyivstar and AWS, which included advancements in cloud migration, data storage solutions, and cybersecurity improvements. This also involved moving Kyivstar’s data management platform to the AWS cloud.
Veon celebrated progress in Ukraine as the Shevchenkivskyi District Court in Kyiv unfroze a significant portion of its corporate rights in several subsidiaries, including Kyivstar. Kaan Terzioglu, Group CEO of Veon acknowledged Ukraine’s favorable business environment, “Today’s decision demonstrates Ukraine’s commitment to upholding the rule of law and fostering an environment supportive to business. This ruling sends a strong message to the international community, including VEON’s own investors, that investing in Ukraine1is the right thing to do.”
Further illustrating its commitment, Veon declared plans to invest $1 billion in rebuilding Ukraine’s digital infrastructure over the next five years. This includes network development, the creation of digital services, potential acquisitions, and forming partnerships.
