NTT Communications, a leading Japanese ICT provider and subsidiary of Nippon Telegraph and Telephone (NTT), has confirmed a significant data breach affecting 17,891 corporate clients. The company, which offers cloud, network, and security services across 190 countries, revealed that an unknown attacker infiltrated its internal systems in early February, accessing sensitive customer information such as contract and contact details.

The breach was detected in two phases. On February 5, suspicious network activity was identified, prompting an immediate disconnection of the compromised servers. However, security experts later discovered that the attacker had already penetrated another system by February 15, necessitating further countermeasures.

The stolen data includes contract numbers, contact names, phone numbers, email addresses, and mailing addresses. NTT Communications has assured that only corporate customer information was compromised, with no end-user data involved. The company has pledged to notify all affected clients and implement enhanced security measures to prevent future incidents.

While there is currently no evidence of the stolen information being misused, the full impact of the breach on affected businesses remains uncertain. NTT Communications has emphasized its commitment to strengthening cybersecurity and maintaining service quality to restore trust.
