Italian-based service provider Sparkle has achieved a significant advancement in quantum-safe security solutions. The company has announced the expansion of its Quantum Safe Interconnect (QSI) service to 20 Equinix International Business Exchange (IBX) data center locations across regions including Europe, the Americas, and Asia. This expansion comes after successful validation through a proof of concept conducted over an IPsec tunnel from Frankfurt to Singapore.
QSI offers enhanced protection against potential quantum computing threats which may compromise current encryption technologies. It is a software-layer solution that integrates smoothly with existing network infrastructures. Unlike traditional point-to-point architectures that rely on dedicated paths and hardware, QSI allows deployments on existing networks without significant redesigns.
Organizations such as enterprises, carriers, and hyperscalers can utilize QSI for their VPNs and multi-cloud environments. One of the key selling points is its integration capability with virtual firewalls and cloud platforms. Additionally, it supports Network-as-a-Service (NaaS) to secure traffic over vast regions, facilitating straightforward adoption.
Antonella Sanguineti, Head of Networking, Cloud, Security & Identity Solutions at Sparkle, emphasized the importance of QSI’s commercial availability in expanding their strategy globally. Sanguineti stated, “The commercial availability of Quantum Safe Interconnect across Equinix locations marks a major milestone in Sparkle’s strategy to extend QSI into leading interconnection environments worldwide.”
Joe Crawford, Vice President of Equinix Managed Solutions, acknowledged Sparkle’s innovation in integrating advanced security measures within Equinix’s international ecosystem. He highlighted the capability of Sparkle’s approach to enhance cyber resilience for customers around the globe.
Sparkle is committed to broadening this solution’s reach and aims to continue expanding across the broader Equinix ecosystem, such as incorporating Equinix Fabric. This effort aims to accelerate the global adoption of quantum-resilient connectivity, ensuring businesses stay ahead of emerging cybersecurity threats.
In conclusion, Sparkle’s QSI promises a future-ready solution that enhances data protection in a quantum-enabled world, promoting a transition towards a secure digital ecosystem. This move underscores a shared vision with Equinix to deliver secure, scalable, and global interoperable digital solutions.
