Telecom Giants Unite for Cybersecurity Innovation in C2 ISAC

In an unprecedented move, eight of the leading US telecommunications providers have joined forces to launch the Communications Cybersecurity Information Sharing and Analysis Center (C2 ISAC). As AI-driven cyber threats continue to evolve rapidly, this initiative aims to enhance cybersecurity intelligence exchange and fortify the resilience of critical communications infrastructure.

The partnership includes industry giants such as AT&T, Charter, Comcast, Cox, Lumen Technologies, T-Mobile, Verizon, and Zayo. Together, they have created a nonprofit organization to facilitate faster, more structured sharing of cyber threat intelligence among major players in the communications sector. This collaboration signifies an evolution in cybersecurity strategies within the industry, highlighting a shift towards rapid information exchange as vital as threat prevention itself.

Historically, the communications sector has been pivotal to national infrastructure, linking enterprises, governments, and consumers. The new initiative seeks to maintain this role by providing greater visibility into the swiftly changing threat landscape and boosting defenses against budding cyber risks.

C2 ISAC expands upon efforts like the National Coordinating Center for Communications (COMM-ISAC), established in 1984, to support resilience and information exchange between government bodies and private communications companies. Through C2 ISAC, members will share threat intelligence, operational insights, and defensive strategies. Valerie Moon, with her extensive background in cybersecurity and public-private coordination, will lead the organization as the appointed executive director.
