Medusa Submarine Cable System has expanded its Mediterranean ambitions into Jordan through a new partnership. The company signed an agreement with NaiTel and Aqaba Digital Hub. The deal creates a fresh route between Jordan and Europe.
The new connection will link Aqaba Digital Hub to Medusa through Coral Bridge. This gives customers in Aqaba a direct path into Medusa’s Mediterranean network. It also adds another route across Europe, North Africa, Jordan, and the wider Middle East.
For carriers and cloud providers, route diversity remains critical. Extra paths can reduce dependence on crowded or vulnerable corridors. They also help enterprises improve service continuity during outages or cable disruptions.
However, new international routes need strong coordination. Operators must manage capacity, resilience, regulation, and commercial demand. Subsea networks also require long-term investment before traffic volumes mature.
Under the partnership, Medusa will establish colocation capacity at Aqaba Digital Hub. Colocation allows operators to place equipment inside a shared data centre. This helps customers connect directly to international network services.
ADH Founder and CEO, Eyad Abu Khorma, said: “Our collaboration with Medusa further expands the international connectivity ecosystem we have built in Aqaba, strengthening the links between Europe, North Africa, Jordan and the wider Middle East.
“Medusa ’s growing footprint across the Mediterranean, combined with NaiTel and Aqaba Digital Hub’s terrestrial, subsea and data centre infrastructure in Jordan, creates a strong foundation for developing more diversified and resilient international connectivity.
“Jordan is uniquely positioned to serve as a bridge between the Mediterranean and the wider Middle East, and we look forward to working with Medusa to develop new connectivity opportunities across the region.”
The agreement also highlights Aqaba’s growing role as a connectivity hub. Its location supports links between regional land networks and submarine cable systems. That position could attract carriers, digital platforms, and enterprise network buyers.
Medusa Submarine Cable CEO, Norman Albi, said: “Partnering with NaiTel and Aqaba Digital Hub represents an important step in extending Medusa’s Mediterranean connectivity into Jordan and the wider Middle East. By combining Medusa’s high-capacity submarine network with NaiTel and ADH’s terrestrial, data centre and subsea infrastructure in Aqaba, we are creating new opportunities for carriers, cloud providers, digital platforms and enterprises to access more diverse and resilient international routes.
“We look forward to working closely with our partners in Jordan to strengthen connectivity between Europe, North Africa and the wider Middle East, while supportingthe region’s growing digital economy.”
Medusa already spans more than 8,700 km. Its planned and existing reach covers landing points across Southern Europe, North Africa, and the Eastern Mediterranean. With Jordan now added, the system gains wider regional relevance. For telecom operators, the move offers another sign that Middle East connectivity competition is intensifying.
