In response to the escalating demand for cloud services across public and private sectors in Italy, TIM, the leading telecommunications provider, has announced a strategic collaboration with Oracle. This partnership aims to integrate Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) into TIM’s managed cloud services, marking a significant step towards meeting Italy’s evolving cloud requirements.

As part of this integration, TIM’s business unit, TIM Enterprise, will serve as the host partner for Oracle’s forthcoming cloud region in Italy, situated within TIM’s data center in Turin. The upcoming Oracle Cloud Turin Region is pivotal in Oracle’s distributed cloud strategy, offering organizations in Italy the opportunity to modernize their applications and leverage advanced technologies like data analytics and AI.

Under the agreement, TIM Enterprise will extend OCI services to its clientele in the region, catering to both public and private sector entities. Furthermore, TIM itself will leverage OCI to migrate internal applications to the cloud, enhancing operational efficiency and scalability.

Oracle’s comprehensive suite of cloud services, including the Oracle Autonomous Database and AI infrastructure, positions it as a unique hyperscaler capable of delivering a wide array of solutions across dedicated, public, and hybrid cloud environments globally.

Elio Schiavo, Chief Enterprise & Innovative Solutions Officer at TIM, emphasized the significance of the collaboration, stating, “Our collaboration with Oracle is an important milestone for TIM Enterprise and reinforces our commitment to providing innovative, sustainable, and secure cloud solutions to public and private sector organizations in Italy.”

Richard Smith, Executive Vice President and General Manager of EMEA Cloud Infrastructure at Oracle, echoed this sentiment, highlighting the potential of OCI to support mission-critical workloads for organizations of all sizes and industries.

The partnership between TIM and Oracle comes amid a substantial surge in enterprise spending on cloud infrastructure services, with a recent report indicating a 21% year-on-year increase. While market leaders like AWS, Microsoft, and Google continue to dominate the sector, the collaboration between TIM and Oracle signifies a concerted effort to expand cloud capabilities within Italy’s digital landscape.

With cloud adoption projected to accelerate further, fueled by advancements in technology and evolving business needs, collaborations such as this are poised to play a pivotal role in shaping Italy’s digital future.
