Qatar-based telecommunications company Ooredoo has announced its membership in the Nvidia Cloud Partner club, with plans to upgrade its AI data centers across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region using Nvidia’s Tensor Core GPUs. This move aligns with Ooredoo’s strategy to establish itself as the leading digital infrastructure provider in MENA.
Ooredoo intends to utilize Nvidia’s accelerated computing platform to drive the AI revolution in the region. The deployment of Tensor Core GPUs will enable the creation of state-of-the-art AI platforms, offering advanced infrastructure, tools, and software to optimize processes and improve operational efficiencies across various industries.
The company’s AI data centers will support local cloud initiatives and the development of AI ecosystems and applications. Additionally, Ooredoo will offer ‘GPU-as-infrastructure’ services, allowing customers to integrate accelerated computing with their cloud solutions or host them on-site. The ‘GPU-as-a-Service’ option will provide on-demand access to AI and machine learning tools, including generative AI.
Ooredoo’s portfolio already includes core telecom services, a data center platform, and independent ventures in wireless towers, financial technology, and subsea cable projects. The new AI platform will be marketed to governments, enterprises, and startups, assisting them in processing private datasets and generating valuable insights to drive innovation.
Aziz Aluthman Fakhroo, Group CEO of Ooredoo, emphasized the company’s commitment to digitalization and innovation, stating, “Implementing Nvidia’s full-stack platform for accelerated computing and generative AI positions Ooredoo at the forefront of the AI revolution in MENA.” Nvidia’s Senior Vice President of Telecom, Ronnie Vasishta, highlighted Ooredoo’s capacity to combine enterprise and consumer relationships with robust AI infrastructure deployment.
