ZTE Corporation, in alliance with China Mobile, unveiled groundbreaking AI-driven 5G-A solutions during MWC 2025 in Barcelona. The duo introduced the ‘Communication-Sensing-Computing-Intelligence’ and ‘Ambient IoT‘ advancements, marking a significant stride in 5G-A technology evolution.

The ‘Communication-Sensing-Computing-Intelligence’ solution integrates key 5G-A technologies to spark next-gen digital transformation. By merging communication with computing, this development lays a robust foundation for industrial transformation. The addition of AI optimizes network efficiency and user experience. This technology enables high-precision perception and intelligent scheduling for a myriad of emerging applications. This solution targets three key markets: business (B2B), consumer (B2C), and new service (B2N).

In the business sector, industries like smart cities, intelligent manufacturing, and the Industrial Internet can benefit from enhanced connectivity and scalable applications. Consumers will experience improved reliability for streaming, gaming, and HD video, boosting 5G-A service adoption. The new service market gains innovations like multi-user VR and drone delivery, unlocking fresh applications by integrating AI into 5G-A networks.

Moreover, ZTE and China Mobile have introduced the 5G-A Ambient IoT solution. It combines Ambient IoT computing base stations, “e-Star” tags, and the “e-Thing” management platform. This initiative drives zero-power IoT solutions and presents new business avenues. In smart manufacturing, Ambient IoT enables real-time asset tracking, enhancing efficiency.

In environments like smart campuses, the solution facilitates seamless digital management of assets and personnel. The full-scenario solution has been tested successfully in various fields including smart warehousing and manufacturing.

Zhang Wanchun, senior vice president of China Mobile, commented, “5G-A x AI is a key driver of high-quality digital economic development.” He highlighted how these solutions transform networks into intelligent hubs and extend digital coverage boundaries.

The integration of 5G-A x AI in networks represents a fundamental reconstruction of social productivity, fostering innovation and supporting national strategies. China Mobile remains committed to a customer-centric approach, pushing technological boundaries and upgrading industry ecosystems, noted Huang Yuhong, general manager of China Mobile Research Institute.
