Proximus and Thales have secured a pivotal contract to overhaul the IT infrastructure of NATO’s Communications and Information Agency (NCIA). This strategic partnership aims to deliver a cutting-edge technology ecosystem to NCIA, promising enhanced collaboration and operational efficiency.
The contract runs until 2029, involving the deployment of secure cloud infrastructure by Thales and Wi-Fi infrastructure by Proximus at NATO sites in the Netherlands and Belgium. This initiative underscores the prioritization of enhanced security and streamlined connectivity for NATO’s core network.
A significant aspect of the project is the provision of over 5,000 laptops, along with various managed services including cloud solutions, cybersecurity, platform administration, and networking. By leveraging these services, NCIA expects improved compatibility and optimal performance for its users.
While financial specifics remain undisclosed, estimates suggest the deal’s value could exceed €100 million. As Alex Bottero, Vice President of Network Systems and Infrastructure at Thales, emphasized, “By outsourcing standard services to trusted industry leaders, NCIA is taking a forward-looking approach that guarantees a fully managed, secure, and scalable solution.”
