Samsung Galaxy XR Gains Enterprise Security and Healthcare Pilots

Ten months after launch, Samsung Galaxy XR looks more enterprise-ready.

At first, many buyers compared it with Apple Vision Pro. Now, the discussion has shifted toward deployment, security, support, and returns.

Samsung, Google, and Qualcomm launched the headset in October 2025. The price was $1,799 in the United States. It includes dual 4K micro-OLED displays. It also supports Wi-Fi 7, eye tracking, and hand tracking.

However, hardware alone does not satisfy enterprise IT teams. Businesses need enrollment, app control, remote security, and lifecycle support. This is where the device has improved most.

In April 2026, Samsung added Android Enterprise support to Galaxy XR. This gives IT teams familiar tools for managing headsets. They can use zero-touch enrollment, QR setup, and managed app deployment. They can also set passwords, configure networks, and wipe devices remotely.

Samsung also added Knox protections for stronger device security. That matters for regulated sectors, including healthcare and finance. Android XR will also receive security updates for up to five years.

James Choi, EVP and Head of the XR R&D Team at Samsung Electronics, said:

“Our vision for XR extends beyond hardware — it’s about building a secure, scalable ecosystem informed by our users. With Android Enterprise support and ongoing platform upgrades, Galaxy XR demonstrates how real-world use cases across work, discovery and play influence our direction.”

This message targets a common enterprise XR problem. Many headsets impress during demos, then fail at daily operations. Companies still need storage plans, cleaning processes, user authentication, and staff training.

David Still, VP in charge of Product and Engineering at Android Enterprise, added:

“The expansion of Android Enterprise to Android XR brings the trusted security and management framework IT professionals rely on for millions of Android devices to the new era of spatial computing, starting with Samsung Galaxy XR.”

One early real-world deployment came through healthcare. Samsung worked with Abbott and the Korean Red Cross. The project used Galaxy XR during blood donation sessions.

Donors entered a gaze-controlled meditation experience. They did not need controllers or complex gestures. The experience lasted around three to five minutes. Medical staff could still supervise donors during use.

Samsung said:

“Galaxy XR is well-suited for healthcare settings, allowing medical staff to monitor donors more easily while helping them stay naturally engaged.”

Still, enterprise buyers should remain careful. The headset costs far less than Apple Vision Pro. Yet large pilots still require serious budgets. Accessories, device management, support, and content add more costs.

Comfort also remains a key question. Some users may struggle during longer sessions. The external battery also limits all-day workplace use.

For now, Galaxy XR appears best suited to focused pilots. Strong use cases include training, healthcare wellbeing, design reviews, and guided workflows. Android-led organizations may find the clearest path.

The next challenge is measurable business impact. Samsung has improved management and security. Now customers must prove that Galaxy XR improves work outcomes.
