HPE will supply networking, AI and cloud technology for the 2027 Ryder Cup at Adare Manor, Ireland. The event will run from 17 to 19 September 2027. It will also mark the tournament’s 100th anniversary.

Organisers expect more than 250,000 fans on site. Around 650 million viewers may follow the event worldwide. That scale makes connectivity a central part of the experience.

HPE plans to deploy a Self-Driving Network based on Wi-Fi 7. The system will connect fans, staff, volunteers, media teams and tournament platforms. It will cover the 230-acre venue, including the course, grandstands and hospitality areas.

The network will also support media centres and operations hubs. These areas need stable links during peak traffic periods. Live scoring, broadcast workflows and event management tools all depend on reliable access.

This approach gives organisers more control across a complex site. The network can monitor performance and adjust in real time. In simple terms, it can spot problems early and respond quickly.

However, the challenge remains significant. Large sporting venues create unpredictable demand. Fans upload videos, broadcasters move large files and operations teams need priority access. Even advanced systems must handle sudden spikes without disruption.

HPE will also expand the Connected Intelligence Centre. The concept first appeared at the 2025 Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black in New York. For 2027, it will use HPE Private Cloud AI and HPE Services.

The centre will bring tournament data into one environment. It aims to help teams make faster decisions. It may also improve planning, staffing and operational response during the event.

Matt Harris, HPE SVP and MD of the UK, Ireland, Middle East & Africa, said: “The Ryder Cup sets the standard for global sporting events and its unique demands are a perfect proving ground for HPE’s latest technology innovations across networking, AI and cloud.

“HPE is proud to return for this historic tournament and help prepare the Ryder Cup for the future with an intelligent foundation that connects people, simplifies operations and demonstrates what is possible as organizations implement autonomous, agentic IT.”

Ryder Cup Europe CTO Michael Cole also welcomed the continued partnership. He said: “Since 2018, HPE innovation has helped us to push the technological boundaries further at each Ryder Cup and set new standards for global events.

“Our continued work with HPE will help give our teams the connectivity and intelligence needed to deliver our best ever event at Adare Manor, as well as creating a future-proofed, intelligent foundation that sets us up for future editions.”

For telecoms and IT teams, the project offers a useful live test. It combines high-density wireless, automation and private AI in one venue. If successful, it could influence future stadiums, festivals and enterprise campuses.
