Nokia has appointed Turki Alzwaiml as Country Manager for Saudi Arabia. The move strengthens its local leadership during a critical growth phase.

Alzwaiml already knows the company’s regional business well. Since 2023, he served as VP Head of Mobile Network Business. That role gave him direct contact with customers, operators, and enterprise partners.

The appointment comes as Saudi Arabia accelerates digital transformation. The Kingdom continues to invest in AI, cloud platforms, automation, and advanced connectivity. These areas demand strong vendor relationships and local market knowledge.

For Nokia, the leadership change offers clear strategic value. A country manager with existing customer ties can shorten decision cycles. He can also align global technology plans with national priorities.

Saudi Arabia remains one of the region’s most ambitious telecom markets. Operators continue to modernise networks and support digital services. Enterprises also want stronger connectivity for industry, logistics, energy, and smart cities.

However, the role will not be simple. The market is competitive and technically demanding. Global vendors must prove they can deliver value beyond equipment sales.

They also need to support long-term resilience. Customers now expect secure, efficient, and flexible networks. They want platforms that can evolve with new business needs.

Commenting on the appointment, Nokia Middle East and Africa Managing Director, Mikko Lavanti, said: “Turki brings extensive experience, strong customer relationships, and a deep understanding of the local market.

“Under his leadership, I am confident Nokia will continue to strengthen its partnerships, accelerate innovation, and support the adoption of advanced technologies that enable growth, resilience, and competitiveness across industries.”

The statement underlines Nokia’s focus on practical innovation. It also points to wider opportunities outside traditional mobile networks. Saudi Arabia’s industries increasingly depend on reliable digital infrastructure.

For telecom professionals, this appointment signals more than an executive change. It reflects how vendors now prioritise local execution. Technology roadmaps mean little without trusted leadership in each market.

Alzwaiml’s background in mobile networks should help Nokia address operator demands. These include capacity growth, better service quality, and network automation. His challenge will be turning relationships into measurable business progress.

At the same time, Nokia must balance ambition with delivery. Saudi customers will expect visible results from advanced technology projects. They will also measure vendors on speed, reliability, and support.

Ultimately, Nokia’s Saudi strategy now rests on deeper local engagement. Alzwaiml brings experience and continuity to that effort. His appointment positions the company to pursue growth in one of the Middle East’s most important digital markets.
