In a significant leap for data infrastructure, VDURA has revealed enhancements to its data platform tailored for AI and high-performance computing (HPC). This development aims to elevate efficiency, scalability, and durability across different environments, such as on-premises, cloud, and hybrid systems.
The revamped VDURA Data Platform debuts with a contemporary, microservices-based architecture focused on parallel operations and a metadata engine optimized for flash storage. This setup promises to simplify data management, delivering exceptional performance and reliability. “As AI and HPC push innovation, VDURA leads with high-performance data infrastructure to meet evolving workloads,” stated Ken Claffey, CEO of VDURA.
Among the standout features is VeLO, or Velocity Layered Operations. It is a new Key Value Store designed specifically for small files and metadata operations. Optimized for flash, VeLO boasts up to two million input/output operations per second (IOPS) per instance, supporting limitless instances in a unified Global Namespace. This dramatically enhances data handling capabilities.
The Virtualized Protected Object Device (VPOD) is another critical addition. It offers discrete, virtualized, and protected storage units within hybrid nodes, allowing infinite scalability under a single Global Namespace. The use of multi-layered erasure coding boosts data protection, delivering up to 11 nines of durability with minimal overhead costs.
Additional improvements include the platform’s Advanced Data Management and Placement systems, now discrete microservices. These enhancements allow seamless deployment across thousands of nodes, and intelligent data orchestration enables optimized data placement across storage tiers.
To complement these software advancements, VDURA introduces the V5000 Certified Platform. This hardware features modular storage nodes with flexible configurations, meeting various throughput, capacity, or IOPS needs. Powered by AMD EPYC processors, the V5000 includes components like NVIDIA ConnectX-7 and Phison PCIe NVMe SSDs, enhancing performance and reliability.
Furthermore, Hybrid Storage Nodes supporting bulk storage solutions incorporate the same server as Director Nodes, ensuring cost-effective high performance and reliability. Users can adjust the hardware’s HDD-to-flash ratio, providing flexibility to balance capacity, performance, and cost. This adaptability makes the platform suitable for numerous industrial applications.
