The company’s greenhouse gas reduction targets have received approval from the Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi), aligning with the objectives of the Paris Agreement. These targets aim to limit global temperature increases to 1.5 degrees Celsius.
OVHcloud plans to significantly reduce its environmental impact by 2030. The company is committed to cutting its absolute scope 1 and 2 greenhouse emissions by an impressive 73.4%. Furthermore, it aims to reduce scope 3 emissions by 52% in economic intensity, using 2022 as the benchmark year. This comprehensive approach places OVHcloud among the few global cloud providers dedicated to extensive decarbonization.
Benjamin Revcolevschi, CEO of OVHcloud, expressed pride in the company’s efforts. The company’s sustainability initiatives are recognized by prominent organizations. In France, OVHcloud leads the public cloud service providers category, according to the consultancy AdVaes. This ranking reflects the provider’s progress in minimizing emissions and improving its energy, water usage, waste, and recycling practices.
EcoVadis, an internationally recognized rating organization, has also endorsed OVHcloud. The company is ranked in the top 29% of responsible businesses, maintaining its bronze medal status while improving its score under stricter criteria.
In addition to reducing its own emissions, OVHcloud assists its clients in sustainability efforts. The company has launched a comprehensive carbon calculator for its Bare Metal and Hosted Private Cloud ecosystems. This tool will be available for Public Cloud and Web Hosting services by mid-2025.
