Nextivity and LG Electronics have teamed up to enhance enterprise-level technologies through new devices and apps designed for seamless integration with private 5G and Distributed Antenna System (DAS) infrastructure. This collaboration aims to accelerate the deployment of advanced 5G solutions across various sectors such as education, retail, healthcare, and warehousing. Their goal is to deliver integrated 5G Internet of Things (IoT) solutions customized for enterprise-specific requirements.

Companies can integrate LG’s Private 5G UltraSlim solutions with Nextivity’s DAS infrastructure, although the specifics of this UltraSlim solution remain somewhat under wraps. LG’s private 5G solution has been approved for government use in South Korea and is labeled as advanced software designed to manage functions typically handled by traditional RAN and core equipment. This setup will be demonstrated at Nextivity’s Customer Experience Center in San Diego, where the interoperability with Nextivity’s CEL-FI DAS solution will be tested.

The initiative is expected to provide enterprises with improved network infrastructure through technologies like autonomous mobile robots, digital signage, point-of-sale systems, and augmented reality devices, all based on 5G technology. LG highlights that their software-centric approach offers faster data processing while minimizing costs by enabling upgrades without hardware replacements. This method also allows for the creation of secure and isolated networks, or integration with external cloud services depending on business needs.

This partnership, rolled out globally with a U.S. focus, allows Nextivity’s CEL-FI QUATRA 4000c clients to incorporate LG’s private 5G solutions. The move builds on LG’s certified achievements in 5G technology in governmental applications within Korea. Nextivity takes pride in having launched a combined public/private cellular solution. The integrated offerings are part of Nextivity’s IoT/AI suite, which simplifies the deployment of IoT applications using DAS infrastructure.

Michiel Lotter, CEO of Nextivity, emphasized the significance of this alliance, stating it allows the company to elevate its DAS-based solutions by collaborating with a leading 5G ecosystem developer like LG. According to Joon-sung Lee, VP of LG’s private network division, their broad 5G solution portfolio supports collaborations that aim to make 5G impact tangible for enterprises.
