In recent developments, Inseego and T-Mobile have formed a noteworthy collaboration, launching the FX4100 – a new indoor 5G gateway device designed exclusively for T-Mobile for Business. This partnership signifies a transition, underscoring that wireless isn’t just a backup anymore but is evolving into the primary connectivity tool for enterprises.
According to Ryan Sullivan, SVP of Carrier Product Management at Inseego, “This product signifies our commitment to the fixed wireless space and moving into the enterprise stack with our products.” It represents a year-long collaboration aimed at meeting business grade requirements, such as those demanded by T-Mobile’s new role as a managed solutions provider.
The FX4100 brings several advanced capabilities. It supports 5G SA, uplink carrier aggregation, and is fully compatible with network slicing. These features allow for specific application slices across different business sectors. Chris Melus, VP of Product Management at T-Mobile for Business, notes that the FX4100 enables T-Mobile’s clients to adopt FWA as their primary connectivity method.
Ease of use is a focal feature, particularly for small to medium-sized businesses lacking IT expertise. The FX4100 supports mesh Wi-Fi for broad coverage and can be easily managed through Inseego’s cloud platform. It’s tailored for businesses like retail stores and restaurants, where physical alterations to set up connections can be restrictive.
Video conferencing, remote collaboration, and cloud services are demanding faster upload speeds from enterprise networks. The FX4100 addresses this with innovative uplink carrier aggregation, enhancing traditional weak points with advanced 5G Standard Access (SA) features. Sullivan confidently states, “We’ve already reached that crossover point where wireless is now outperforming traditional Wi-Fi through fiber licenses.”
Furthermore, T-Mobile’s recent innovations include record uplink speeds of 345 Mbps using 5G SA and UL Tx switching, providing smoother video calls and more responsive cloud applications.
Industry-specific configurations are on the radar for both T-Mobile and Inseego, with the integration of unique vertical solutions and equipment. Melus highlights, “T-Mobile remains committed to expanding the potential of network slicing.” The potential for delivering transformative benefits within businesses and consumer sectors is anticipated to expand with growing 5G advancements and strategic partnerships.
The FX4100 is positioned as a market entry point for Inseego, setting the stage for further enterprise-focused innovations. Sullivan concludes, “This is really a beachhead for us, we want to be the leader in enterprise FWA.” The collaboration reflects a strategic step in fortifying wireless solutions for enterprise use and sets the foundation for future growth within a dynamic telecommunications landscape.
