Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison, a prominent telecommunications operator in Indonesia, anticipates its neocloud business to significantly expand. The company projects its contracted revenue from neocloud services to reach approximately $170 million over the next three years. This ambitious target reflects Indosat’s strategy to broaden its offerings beyond traditional telecom services by integrating more advanced technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and cloud-based solutions.

Vikram Sinha, the company’s President Director and CEO, emphasized that their AI-related initiatives would gradually enhance Indosat’s revenue. He remarked, “We expect our AI North Star initiatives to make an increasing revenue contribution in the coming years.” These initiatives are aimed at improving customer experiences through advanced AI and neocloud services. In 2025, the neocloud services generated around $35 million, showing promising growth with $16 million already achieved in the first quarter of 2026.

Indosat’s “AI North Star” strategy lays the groundwork for fostering AI-native telecom operations, utilizing sovereign AI infrastructure, and offering advanced digital services. Previously, the company highlighted its intentions to deepen AI integration within network operations and customer service areas, while also branching into cloud and cybersecurity services.

The company is working toward propelling AI adoption beyond Indonesia’s primary urban centers. Sinha stated, “We are committed to ensuring that the benefits of AI reach every Indonesian,” focusing on establishing an AI ecosystem that fosters innovation. This involves initiatives like the Indonesia AI Center of Excellence, which supports AI startups and talent growth. Furthermore, the company has set up AI Experience Centers in Solo and Jayapura, encouraging engagement with AI technology beyond Jakarta.

Indosat’s focus on AI infrastructure is further enhanced by partnerships with technology giants such as Nvidia. These collaborations are part of a broader effort across the Asia-Pacific region to diversify revenue streams and establish competitive positions within the emerging sovereign AI ecosystems. In collaboration with Cisco and Nvidia, Indosat is aiding in creating Indonesia’s AI Center of Excellence.

The strategic focus on AI and cloud services positions Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison as a forward-thinking player in the telecommunications industry, striving to leverage technology for substantial growth and enhanced customer service. This expansion into AI and digital services signifies a notable shift toward future-centric technological integration.
