Singtel, Singapore’s largest telecom operator, is embarking on a groundbreaking approach to global IoT solutions by leveraging floLIVE’s distributed core network. This unconventional method reverses the conventional MVNO model, positioning floLIVE as a key support for Singtel’s innovative eSIM-based IoT services. Additionally, this strategic move includes a sales deal with Lenovo Connect aimed at the automotive sector.

Singtel’s new IoT approach utilizes floLIVE’s advanced MVNE platform to facilitate eSIM provisioning and manage its lifecycle in over 190 markets. By collaborating with Lenovo Connect, the focus shifts to automotive manufacturers, facilitated by the new SGP.32 eSIM standard. This collaboration offers Singtel an edge, especially in highly regulated APAC markets, complemented by technological support like RedCap 5G, MEC, and AI.

The collaboration between Singtel and floLIVE is unique, as it capitalizes on floLIVE’s cloud-based core network for global and local compliance. In March, floLIVE revealed its involvement with several MNOs and MVNOs to integrate global IoT traffic into its cloud infrastructure, highlighting discussions with major MNOs. This partnership with Singtel underscores the growing interest in floLIVE’s offerings.

Singtel promises an “enhanced multi-domestic connectivity solution” designed to adhere to global regulatory standards. This solution offers a unified access point for IoT connectivity across multiple regions. It aims to overcome challenges such as permanent roaming restrictions faced in markets like China, Indonesia, and India, where regulatory demands have historically been an obstacle for IoT deployments.

Even as Singtel plays a pivotal role in sales and support, floLIVE’s platform remains the backbone, managing eSIM connectivity across the globe. This setup allows IoT traffic management and enables regional cloud domination over eSIM operations through the SGP.32 standard for remote eSIM activation.

In regions like Europe and the Americas, floLIVE will manage local operations, including traffic handling and eSIM management. Singtel’s plan benefits from floLIVE’s expansive network, promoting efficient and flexible IoT fleet management. Since 2022, Singtel has facilitated localized IoT to help enterprises navigate specific regulatory hurdles in Asia-Pacific, a capability now extended globally through floLIVE.

The automotive industry is spearheading the adoption of this solution, primarily due to eSIM technology’s potential. By 2030, the connected car market is expected to surpass $250 billion, with Asia-Pacific as a key growth region. The surge in electric vehicle adoption is accelerating the need for advanced in-car connectivity options.

Thanks to its robust infrastructure and strategic partnerships, Singtel is distinctively positioned to offer connected vehicle programs across multiple geographies. Lenovo Connect adds value by integrating payment, device management, and data collection services tailored for automotive OEMs.

Ng Tian Chong, Singtel’s Chief Executive in Singapore, stated: “With our strong regional presence and strength in international delivery, Singtel is well-placed to help companies seeking to expand into new markets with this transformative global IoT solution that simplifies global connectivity, ensures compliance, and enables scalable device lifecycle management.” This statement illustrates Singtel’s vision for enabling intelligent, borderless mobility and fostering IoT transformation across sectors such as healthcare, logistics, and smart cities.
